Prematurity Awareness Month

November is Prematurity Awareness Month   A premature baby is defined as any baby born before 37 weeks. Just under 8% of babies born in Canada are born before 37 weeks and are considered premature. Around the world over 15 million babies are born premature each year. Premature babies are at an increased risk for many medical problems including respiratory distress syndrome, chronic lung disease, cardiovascular disorders, asthma and hearing and vision loss.
